The following is here to assist you in getting ideas of what you may like for your photo session
Indoors.
Often when people choose indoor portraits, they have them taken at their own home. For instance you could choose to have a family photo taken by the fireplace mantel. A childs photo taken in that child's room with their favorite book or toy. Other indoor locations to consider are those places you enjoy being. If you’re a basketball player you may want portraits on a court posed, or in action. If you would like indoors portraits, but have no place that would make a good backdrop come over to my studio. I have a variety of props and backgrounds, or I can even digitally add you to a background the options are endless
Outdoors
Beautiful California! The possibilities are exciting. Beaches, parks, missions, gardens and amazing architecture, all make great photography locations. Choose your favorite location. Maybe you’re, or a relatives, or friend's home has a great location to create a more personal backdrop. If you’re a surfer you may prefer a beach shot with your board. Skateboarders may like to be photographed in motion at the skate park.
Your Imagination:
Communicate what style and type of portrait your looking for. Things to consider in making your portraits:
What are you looking for?
Traditional :: Formal :: Candid :: Posed

Deciding Color
-Light colors can give a feeling of:
Soft; Soothing; Light; Airy; Casual
-Dark colors project a feeling of:
Dramatic; Formal; Deep; Serious
-Bright colors bring out the emotions of:
Fun; Happy; Playful; Youth
Prints: when choosing clothes. avoid to many busy prints. The distract from the person or persons in the portrait.
Groups: Coordinating colors, is the best way to create a pleasing portrait. For example all natural – neutral colors or all pastels, or lights or darks, that blend well together, or a good sensible mix of both. Example: black and white. Sticking with a maximum of 2 or 3 colors is best. Example: khaki pants and white shirts. Finally consider uniformity in styles such as casual or formal not both.
